I’ve been wondering about the “AI revolution” we were promised - where are all the vibe-coded apps that were going to completely reimagine how software is developed? To me, this implies an even more important question:
If you knew how to do it, what problem would you solve by “vibe-coding”?
Because while AI is impressive, it hasn’t changed the difficulty of one profound question: what problem does this solve?
So what problem do you have that doesn’t have a solution? We live in an age where there are some very motivated nerds out there who are excited to build things, but they (that is, me) don’t know what people need.
I’ve always enjoyed the act of creating a piece of software to solve a real-world problem in a small, simple manner. However, sometimes it’s hard to find the next thing, because those small-but-significant problems aren’t obvious to anyone outside the world in which it matters.
